Hi
I'm supposed to sing as part of a ceremony for a wedding that has a folk theme. All the a capella folk solos I know are sad. Anyone know one about love or commitment that is NOT religious?
Thanks for your help!
Barbara

Re: Anyone know a good a capella folk solo for a wedding?
Sun, July 9, 2006 - 9:44 AMI always use Mudcat Cafe for folksong searches. In this case, I just searched on Wedding. This was fun; thanks for posting the question!!!
If they have a sense of humor, try "Mr..Frog Went A-Courtin"
www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm
Or "THe Monkey's Wedding"
www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm
Once everyone is good and plastered, "Nine Times A Night" might be fun:
www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm
"Buying a Bride" is so un-PC it could work:
www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm
Oh, what the heck. Here's one more:

If the funny ones won't work, Mairi's Wedding will:
www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm
"GOlden Wedding Day" is nice and short:
www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm
"The Mantle So Green" is one of those 'love come back unrecognized' songs that ends happily:
www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm
Of course, being in San Diego, "The Disguised Sailor" might work too:

In the discussion forums, there was a nice thread on wedding songs. Scroll about 2/3 of the way down for the links to the vasrious lists:

Sun, October 8, 2006 - 11:33 AMThis is probably too late for you, but I've always thought "Web of Birdsong" by Bob Coltman would be perfect for a wedding. It's on an album at www.kathykallick.com/KKB/pag...ice.html -

Sun, October 8, 2006 - 10:53 PMThanks, the wedding was yesterday. I got together quartet, and we did "A Red, Red, Rose". Thanks for the info anyway; I'll keep it for future reference!
